Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station South Padre Island were called to assist in the rescue of several individuals seen in the water in the vicinity of the Port Isabel Shrimp Basin Monday morning.
“The report came from the Port of Brownsville,” said Public Affairs Officer Lt. Shelly Brown. “We immediately launched the station. When we got on scene, there was actually six individuals in the water,” Brown said. A seventh person had been rescued by Border Patrol.
