The Shoreline Task Force met Monday afternoon for their regular biweekly meeting. Along with the help of the City Council, the task force been working on big changes for the Coastal Resources Department with a switch to the newly formed Shoreline Department, which would focus on not only the beach but also the bay. The swift moving changes ran into a hitch after last week’s resignation from Coastal Resources and Parks Administrator Reuben Treviño, who was slated to be the Director for the new department.

Treviño, who has been with the city since 2008, has chosen to accept a position as the Director of Operations for the Galveston Park Board of Trustees. He shared with the Press, “The choice to accept the position and uproot my family was an extremely difficult one but in the end new challenges and an incredible opportunity were enough for us to decide to make the move.” Treviño was the first and only person to fill the Coastal Resources Manager position after the City Council recognized a need to hire a dedicated person to handle coastal issues.
