The Port Isabel High Tarpons track and field team took third place at last Saturday’s Falcon Relays in Los Fresnos.  Hurdler Omar Silva won two gold medals as he again swept the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles races.

Again facing mostly large-school competition the Tarpon track and field men racked up a total of 117 points, good enough for a third place team finish.  The team title was won by the host Falcons with 180 points, and Mission Veterans was second with 149 points.  The Los Fresnos JV team was fourth with 71 points.  Rio Hondo was next with 58 points and Brownsville Pace had 36.

It was another photo finish for Silva in the 110’s as he was timed at 16.18 seconds, which was just 0.07 seconds ahead of second-place Robert Ramirez of Los Fresnos.  Silva had a much more comfortable advantage at the finish in the 300-meter race, 2.90 seconds, and his time in that one was 40.40 seconds.
