The Town cordially invites your school club or community organization to participate in the upcoming Laguna Vista Live: Music by the Bay event that we’ve scheduled for Saturday, April 16 from 5 to 9pm at Roloff Park. We are prepared to work with you to ensure that your kids perform and/or possibly set up a booth. Our plans are for this family-oriented event are to include live music performances, children activities and performances, and food vendors. We think it’s equally important to showcase the talent of our students and to get them involved in community events such as this one.
This year, we would like to showcase our local students. We would like to see our local talent perform on stage.
Please let us know if this event is one that you would like to include the participation of your student clubs and organizations. We look forward to the possibility of hearing from you. Thanking you in advance for your consideration.
Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 30
The Town wishes to announce its upcoming Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony it is hosting on Monday, May 30 at 5pm to pay our respects to the men and women that have given their lives in defense of our country. Please join the Town Council of the Town of Laguna Vista and the community that day as we remember and honor our heroes.
Parade: The “Always Honor, Never Forget” Parade will be starting at 5pm from the Laguna Vista Public Library on FM 510 towards the Veterans Park. We are encouraging all those that want to participate to decorate their golf carts, bikes, motorcycles, boats/trailers, and vehicles. The Color Guard from the Marine Corp Reserve Unit in Harlingen will be participating.
The Town’s honorary guest will be WW II veteran and Purple Heart recipient Juan (Johnny) A. Perez from Brownsville. Please make plans to attend this ceremony and learn how this veteran joined the U.S. Navy at the age of fifteen with his mother’s permission and his experiences sailing to Iwo Jima where he witnessed the USS Franklin almost destroyed after being hit by piercing bombs dropped by a Japanese dive bomber.
Ceremony: The Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Veterans Park, following the Parade. During the ceremony, the hymn for each military branch will be played. We are encouraging all veterans to attend and be recognized.
Please make every effort to join us at these community events. If you have any questions or would like to get involved in any of these events, please feel free to contact the Town of Laguna Vista at 943-1793 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
