The Port Isabel Lady Tarpons track and field team won four gold medals and took first place at the Albert Tijerina Relays in Raymondville last week.

The Lady Tarpons struck gold in two relay races, the 400-meter dash, and the pole vault.

On the day Port Isabel totaled 84 points to finish first in (52.5), and Donna North (50) rounded out the top five in the team standings.

Natalie Garza team points.  Donna was second with 74.5 points.  La Joya Juarez-Lincoln (73 points), PSJA Memorial came home first in the 400-meter dash, and Alex Martinez got the gold in the pole vault.

Garza’s time in the 400 was 1:01.21 and she was a full second ahead of Donna’s Yvonne Sanchez, who clocked in at 1:02.32.  Martinez’s best effort in the vault was 8-06.00 and that was six inches better than second-place Camryn Gloor or St. Joseph’s Academy.
