Writer’s Block: So Much To Do…

… So Little Time.

With spring in full swing, the social calendar is quickly beginning to fill up. This weekend is no exception.

Those with kids will have an early start as the Hooked For Life fishing tourney is set to take place at Pirates Landing Saturday morning beginning at 8 a.m.

After the angling is over, be sure to head on down to the Laguna Madre Little League fields for the opening ceremonies for the 2016. The season will be rung in beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a parade of the teams from the Laguna Madre Water District offices to the fields.

After spending the morning outdoors, I’m sure everyone will be ready for a hearty lunch and a much-needed siesta, but the fun won’t quite be over yet.

Next weekend is shaping up to be a busy one, as well. Early birds will enjoy participating in the school district’s annual run and walk for autism awareness on Saturday, April 16. Shuttles will be offered from the high school to the starting line.

There’s nothing quite like getting in a little morning exercise for a good cause, but it can be a little tiring. Luckily, Town of Laguna Vista has just the solution.

That Saturday evening the Town will host Music by the Bay at the beautiful Roloff Park which sits nestled between the main road and the Laguna Madre. So bring a blanket or some lawn chairs and kick up your heels as The Agency entertains with tunes from the 1950s to the 1970s. There’s sure to be plenty to snack on, as numerous vendors will be on site, as well.

If indoor entertainment is more your speed, the El Paseo Arts Foundation is hosting the thrilling play, “The Young, the Bold and the Murdered” April 23 – 25 at the South Padre Island Convention Centre. Tickets are available online at www.elpaseoarts.org.

These are just some of the upcoming events going on in the Laguna Madre this month. If you have an event and you’d like to see it featured in the Parade, drop me a line at editor@portisabelsouthpadre.com.
