City Manager Search Commences

Special to the PRESS

The South Padre Island City Council met Wednesday afternoon for their regular meeting. April proved to be full of proclamations as the Council recognized Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month, Earth Day, National Travel and Tourism Week, and finally, Administrative Professional’s Day. After observing the proclamations, the Council noted their upcoming busy schedule with the search for a new city manager.

Regarding the resignation of former City Manager Bill DiLibero, the City Council approved a budget amendment in the amount of $88,155 to allocate funds for DiLibero’s severance package. The approved separation package includes six months of separation pay to be paid in a lump sum on April 20, continuation of benefits through the end of October 2016, and payment of accrued sick and vacation leave.
