The Port Isabel Lady Tarpons won seven gold medals and placed second in team points at last week’s District 32-4A track and field meet at Tarpon Stadium.

The Lady Tarpons took first place in four field events on Tuesday, then won two individual running events and the mile relay on Thursday.

Alex Martinez (pole vault), Madison Bickerton (high jump), Ava Gomez (long jump), and Simone Harry (triple jump), were the gold medal winners in field events on the first day.  On Thursday, Ava Gomez set a personal best in winning the 300-meter hurdles, and was part of the winning foursome in the 4 x 400-meter relay race that also ran its fastest time of the year.

Port Isabel was trying to win back the district title they lost last year to La Feria after four consecutive years on top of the team standings.  This year it came down to the final event of the night on Thursday
