Six Port Isabel High Lady Tarpon athletes are off to the regional track and field meet in Kingsville this weekend. They qualified for regional competition by finishing in the top four in five different events at last week’s area meet, also in Kingsville.
In the 4×400-meter relay the foursome of Natalie Garza, Simone Harry, Melissa Lopez, and Ava Gomez finished a close second to Sinton, and Garza also qualified in the 400-meter dash. Gomez qualified in the long jump and the 300-meter hurdles, and Harry also goes in the triple-jump. Alex Martinez and Sabrina Garza finished one-two in the pole vault to also make the regional meet.
It was another outstanding effort by the Lady Tarpons’ mile relay team as they set a personal record of 4:04.81 in the event for the second meet in a row.
