Purple Heart monument to highlight Veterans’ Day in LV

Special to the PRESS

Come Nov. 11, Laguna Vista will have something special to salute with the unveiling of a Purple Heart Monument at Veterans’ Memorial Park.

The monument which will serve to commemorate Purple Heart recipients will be installed in time for Veterans Day ceremonies at Laguna Vista’s Veterans Memorial Park, along with Purple Heart signage.

The Purple Heart is a medal awarded by U.S. presidents to those wounded or killed while serving in the military.

Laguna Vista Councilman Gary Meschi and his wife, Janet are donating the monument.

“There is no other place in the Valley that has this memorial,” City Manager Rolando Vela told the Council at their Tuesday meeting.
