Infante settling in fine

New head football coach and athletic director Jaime Infante has been in his new office and on the job at Port Isabel High School for almost two months now.  The Press dropped by this week to check up on him and get his thoughts on his new surroundings.

First of all, Infante is not exactly a new face at Port Isabel.  He did a previous tour of duty locally from 1996 to 2002, when he was offensive coordinator under two different head coaches — including the recently departed Monty Stumbaugh during his first season as the Tarpon head man in 2001.

“Having been here before I’m familiar with the type of kids that Port Isabel has,” Infante said this week.  “I’m impressed with some of the skill position people that we have.”
