Bass drummers report

It began with the frontal ensemble two weeks ago and everybody took the week of July 4th off.  This week the snare, tenor and bass drummers have started showing up at the band halls of Port Isabel High School.  Next week the band as a whole will start making music together and it will all come together with the first 2017 public performance of the Silver Tarpon Marching Band on Sept. 1.

Of course the whole business is a little more complicated than that and the Press showed up at the instrumental music department this week to learn more about it.  Two bass drummers were still hanging around on Monday after their fellow percussionists had all taken off and they shared their thoughts on summer practices, marching contests and the new show.
