Youth will be served on snare line

Special to the PRESS

Of course, all high school musicians are young but this 2017 version of the snare drum line will be one of the youngest to take the field on Friday nights this fall in years.  There’s not a single junior or senior in the group and to further emphasize the youth factor, one 8th grade student has even been brought up from the junior high percussion ranks.

The 8th grade snare drummer is David Hernandez and Port Isabel High head director of bands, Scott Hartsfield, figured he was ready to make his Silver Tarpon Marching Band debut a year early.
