Special to the PRESS
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cecilio Barrientez, Sr.,
I was recently promoted to Master Sergeant (E-8) in the United States Marine Corps and I wanted to acknowledge both of you for your love and support. I joined the Marines at 17 and departed for boot camp shortly after graduating Port Isabel High School in 2000. I would not have made it this far without you instilling a strong foundation of family, faith, and work ethic. Thank you for your sacrifice and raising me up the right way in the small knit community of Port Isabel.
To the entire community of Port Isabel and my fellow veterans thank you.
To Dr. Roach and his staff at Port Isabel High School, continue to lead, motivate and inspire our young men and women in and outside of the classroom. Ensure they are doing the right things for the right reasons even when nobody is watching.
To the young men and women of Port Isabel, challenge yourself and don’t be afraid to lead from the front.
United States Marine Corps
Editor’s Note: Master Sgt. Tim Barrientez and his wife, Valentina, submitted this as an open letter to the Port Isabel community.
