Last Saturday, January 11, 945 people ran across the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway from the Port Isabel Public Library, ending the annual marathon at Louie’s Backyard.
The marathon, hosted by the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce, is in its 36th year. This year, Jose Esqueda placed 1st overall, with a finish time of 34.52.03. Following Esqueda, in the Top Male category, was Marcos Tellez, with a finish time of 37.00.05, and John Abrego, with a finish time of 37:09.8.
In the Top Female category, Faith Cruz finished with a 45.39.09 time, followed by Amanda Ellison with 46.08.01 and Ayianna Frances Olivas with 46.21.05.
