Water shut-offs scheduled for Laguna Blvd. project

Special to the PRESS

The Laguna Madre Water District (LMWD), in partnership with the City of South Padre Island, has begun the Water Line Upgrade of the Laguna Boulevard Project, funded by the LMWD Bond passed in the November 2020 Election.

During this improvement project, the LMWD will shut off water services on a weekly basis to connect new water mains and replace deteriorated valves as it progresses from West Georgia Ruth Drive to West Marisol Drive. Every Monday and/or Tuesday, the LMWD staff and contractors will hand-deliver advance notices to the residents and businesses in the area that will be affected.

Water mains and valve installations will be scheduled only on Wednesdays and Thursdays in order to minimize water shut-offs.

All notices will be posted on the LMWD Website at www.lmwd.org and its social media platforms: Facebook.com/lmwd.org, Twitter.com/lmwd_org, and Instagram.com/lmwd_org.

Please check any of these sites on Mondays for a post announcing the area scheduled for that week. Additionally, the LMWD will prioritize sharing up-to-date information with the City of South Padre Island to keep residents informed of the affected areas.
