Rayne Wood, often found cruising on his Harley, started working as a henna artist at Peggy’s Tattoos in 2019, shortly after graduating high school.
He says that the best part of being a henna artist is “the gratitude you get when you finish a piece and you get to step back and think “I did that.””
Over the years, he has completed hundreds of hennas, sometimes doing up to 20 in a single hour.
“God has definitely blessed me to the fullest,” Wood says in reference to the satisfaction of being able to create art for a living.
He wishes South Padre Island a happy Mother’s Day, and hopes all local moms can enjoy the customized Mother’s Day card, designed by him.
Those who admire his artwork can receive a henna from him at Peggy’s Tattoos, located at 1600 Padre Blvd.
