Halloween events set for weekend

South Padre and Port Isabel are gearing up to celebrate Halloween 2022. There will be costume contests and parties on both sides of the Queen Isabella Causeway.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, Gulf Guardians will host Ohana-Ween Surf Contest at Wanna Wanna’s Beach Bar and Grill. There will be free surfing lessons from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The contest starts at 1 p.m. Participants in the surf contest will have to register at tinyurl.com/HolidaySurfSeries. All divisions are co-ed and the division heats will be 20 minutes. It is a requirement that all competitors are costumed.
At 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, the Rio Grande Distillery and Magic Valley Moonshine will host its Halloween Costume Party, starting at 7 p.m. There will be live music, drinks and cash prizes. The costume judging begins at 9:30 p.m. There will be first, second and third place winners. The distillery is located beside the lighthouse in Port Isabel.
Right across the street from the distillery, that same night, Hopper Haus will be hosting Costume Night with Jenuine Cello, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
JJ’s Party Barn, located at 104 W Palm ST, SPI, is giving away $1,000 in prizes at its Halloween Costume Party. The party will start at 8 p.m., and the contest is at 10 p.m, on Oct. 29. The categories for the contest are best female, best male and best couple. DJ Agro will provide music. There will be a ten-dollar cover fee. Call (956) 739-8732 for VIP Service.
Driftwood Landing, located at 2401 B Laguna Blvd., SPI, is throwing its annual Halloween Costume Party. There will be a live DJ and prizes awarded for the best costumes. The party is Sunday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m.
