It is time to fall back

By R. Lewis

The month of Oct. is winding down, with only a few days left in the month.  Next weekend is the time to fall back and set our clocks back one hour.  This week would be a good time to fertilize the lawn and get it looking good for the quickly approaching holiday season.  The weather has been good for our lawns this fall and it is the perfect time for feeding turf grass.
Our temperatures have cooled off and now averaging the low to mid-80s.  Our days this month have been sunny with a couple of good rain showers so our lawns have been growing well.
Since the weather has been mainly dry, there are few problems with lawn fungus disease.  Lawns that are in danger of the ugly brown patch disease starting are the ones that have not cut down their automatic sprinkler systems and are watering like it’s still 100 degrees every day.
Just important as the amount and frequency of your lawn watering, is the time that you water.  Now that we are in the peak of lawn disease time it is best to water around sunrise.
