F&B Restaurant offers unique experience

By TESS FICCALIA

If you are looking for a quick lunch on a Thursday afternoon, don’t go to F&B, they won’t be open. You won’t get a quick dinner either. There aren’t any baskets of fried Gulf shrimp with fries at this establishment.

The owners don’t refer to F&B as a Five Star restaurant. There aren’t linen table clothes, and a dress code, but the owners, staff, decore and food make it SPI’s version of fine dining. In fact, one can say that there is nothing like F&B on South Padre Island.

Located at 3109 Padre Blvd., South Padre Island, F&B is open Tuesday thru Thursday, 5-9 p.m., Friday & Saturday, 5-10 p.m. and only brunch on Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Whichever day you choose to have dinner in your flip flops and shorts, you will find the owner, Brandi Greenwood greeting each guest at the door with a smile and hearty welcome, while her husband, Chef Walter makes sure every dish comes out of the kitchen perfect.

Brandi seems to never stop except at every table to make sure your experience is the best. The menu changes constantly with seasonal and local fare to ensure you won’t get bored visiting often.

Reared in Las Vegas, the food and beverage industry is in Brandi’s blood. That is where she met Walter, a professionally trained chef. They knew from the beginning their careers were going to be as restaurateurs. Moving to Los Angeles for more training, Brandi got the best there is from the famous two-time Michelin Star Award winner and five-time James Beard Award Chef Wolfgang Puck. But in 2018, after visiting the Island since the early 1990s.
