The Port Isabel track teams traveled to La Feria this past week to compete in the 4A Area 31-32 Track and Field Meet. The meet had the following 13 schools competing: Port Isabel, La Feria, Raymondville, Zapata, Hidalgo, RGC La Grulla, Brownsville Harmony, Alice, Bishop, CC Calallen, CC Tuloso-Midway and Robstown. The top four individual athletes per event will advance to the Regional Meet.
Port Isabel’s top performers included freshman Luis Ramos, who won a silver medal in the 200 Meters run with a time of 23.44 seconds. In the field events, senior Kaleb Clinton also won silver in the shot-put event with a throw of 43’-08”. In the women’s division, junior Chelsea Gonzalez came in second in the discus event, with a throw of 122’-09”. All three will be advancing to the Regional Meet held at Javelina Stadium, Kingsville A&M University on April 28-29.

4×100 Relay: Amber Villarreal, Valery Gonzalez, Layni Mata, Rebekah Camacho (7, 53.81)
4×200 Relay: Edward Sanchez, Luis Ramos, Nathaniel Gonzalez, Anthony Garcia (4, 1:34.62); Amber Villarreal, Valery Gonzalez, Layni Mata, Katy Espinoza (8, 1:54.17)
