PI athletes compete at Region IV Track Meet

This past week, the Port Isabel track teams competed in the 4A Region IV Track and Field Meet held at Kingsville’s Javelina Stadium. The two-day meet consisted of the best athletes from a whopping 52 schools in Region Four.

The regional meet was the toughest meet to date for the PI teams as they competed in some highly-competitive prelim events. The Port Isabel athletes that qualified for the finals from the prelim events were as follows:

Junior, Chelsea Gonzalez came in sixth place in the Discus Throw with a distance of 120’-00”.

Leslie Pena won the discus event with a throw of 128’-04”.

Gonzalez also came in 16th place in the Shot-Put event with a throw of 31’-00”.

Tori Adams from Boerne won the event with a throw of 45’-06.50”.

Senior, Kaleb Clinton came in 14th place in the Shot-Put event with a throw of 42’-05.50”, the winner of the event was Eric Edison from Ingleside with a throw of 54’-04.50”.

Junior, Evan Galvan came in 13th place in the Triple Jump event with a distance of 38’-10”. Oliver Miles from El Campo won the event with a jump of 49’-00.50”.

PORT ISABEL PRELIMS RESULTS

Emily Ramos came in 12th place in the 100m Hurdles event with a time of 16.59 seconds.

Eli Garza came in 14th place in the 100 Meters run with a time of 11.73 seconds.

Luis Ramos came in 14th place in the 200 Meters run with a time of 23. 37 seconds.

4×200 Relay team of Edward Sanchez, Luis Ramos, Eli Garza, and Anthony Garcia came in 12th place with a time of 1:34.51.

The top five women’s teams were: Fredericksburg, Royal, Iowa Colony, Needville and Sealy.  PI women’s team came in tied at 31st with one point.

In the men’s division, the top five teams were: Stafford, Wharton, Pleasanton, Ingleside and Davenport. PI men’s team did not place as they failed to score a point.
