Coco Beach Hotel and Bar, located at 2612 Gulf Blvd, South Padre Island, is a wonderful way to spend the day. An oasis of recently renovated hotel rooms, it’s on the beach with a full-service bar and restaurant a few yards away from the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico waters. A large deck the length of the hotel with tables, umbrellas and chairs outside each room allows you to meet new friends vacationing on the beautiful South Padre Island. There is private parking right outside your door. Walking the length of the deck towards the beach, you find yourself on a large outdoor patio with a full-service bar and a pool. The view and Gulf breezes takes your breath away. The outdoor bar offers a wide variety of alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy while lounging in the soft sand soaking up the cloudless Texas sun.
Operations Manager Johnny Vega explains that the new owner has been implementing the systems and redecorating to create the ultimate family-oriented vacation spot. The cabanas, one of the many new concepts at Coco Beach, are one of the hot spots, creating a private retreat with billowing curtains and comfortable seating to pass the time away. Overlooking the new volleyball courts, you just might catch a tournament or grudge match that Coco Beach Hotel and Bar sponsors periodically. The tables with oversized thatched umbrellas keep you cool and out of the rays and are slightly elevated above the cabanas, giving you the perfect view to watch the game with the waves in the background.
You will enjoy this phenomenal setting enjoying a frozen Blueberry Pomegranate Margarita or Coco Beach Bar’s Padre Tea. Padre Tea is rum, vodka, gin, pineapple, cranberry and triple sec. The party in the sun begins. The drink menu is a variety of frozen and iced drinks for every taste bud. The Tsunami sounds luscious, blue Curaçao, coconut rum, pineapple juice, orange juice and a splash of white rum. The final touch to these fantastic drinks, Coco Beach Bar adds chunks of pineapple, cherries, orange or lime slices and an umbrella for that tropical experience. A signature feature is the Blue Bay Bucket. Any drink on the menu can be purchased in this large souvenir cup for $20, eliminating frequent trips from the beach or volleyball court.
Getting hungry? Cocoa Beach Hotel and Bar has a full kitchen for creating sandwiches, tacos, nachos, burgers and salads. Coco Beach Hotel and Bar only serves local fish and shrimp from its kitchen, he proudly boasts. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Vega recommended the Coconut Shrimp; succulent, butterflied, breaded and fried to a golden crispy crunch, served with their special house-made Spicy Pineapple Chutney dipping sauce, it was delicious.
