Ride for Rotary slated

Visit South Padre Island, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Historic Brownsville, has announced the highly anticipated return of the annual Ride for Rotary event on Oct. 1, 2023. Cycling for a cause, this beloved event is a celebration of fitness, community spirit, and charitable giving, offering a fun and active way to get outdoors and give back.

“We are excited to play a part once again in bringing to life the annual Ride for Rotary over the Queen Isabella Causeway,” said Blake Henry, South Padre Island CVB Executive Director. “We look forward to welcoming riders from across the region and beyond as they join us for a day of fun, camaraderie and adventure as we pedal off to paradise on two wheels.”

Targeted toward a wide range of riders at varying experience levels, the Ride for Rotary is approximately 33 miles long. It includes crossing the Queen Isabella Causeway with a spectacular view before ending at Louie’s Backyard with a party for the participants.

The ride will kick off at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at the Brownsville Event Center, where riders will make their way to South Padre Island, stopping at Pelican Station in Port Isabel by 10:15 a.m. for the causeway cross. The causeway cross will take place by 10:30 a.m., and all riders are required to cross at the same time. For those participating, packet pickup will be available from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Bicycle World in Brownsville and on the day of. Registration is $55, with kids 12 and under riding for free. The first 200 riders will receive a free t-shirt, and all riders will receive a medal for participating.
All proceeds raised by the event will support local Rotary Club initiatives and humanitarian efforts, benefiting education, youth development, and community improvement projects.
