Halloween and the aloha spirit come together on Saturday, Oct. 28, with the Third Annual Ohana-Ween Surf Contest. It will occur at Wanna Wanna Island Beach Bar & Grill from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Ohana-Ween Surf Contest is brought to South Padre Island by SPI Sessions to raise funds for its beneficiary, the Gulf Guardians. It is a free event open to the entire community.

Attendees and competitors are encouraged to don their “spookiest, silliest or most creative costumes.” All ages are welcome. The competition will include individual surfing categories and Halloween-themed categories like Best Costume and Best Trick. It is the goal of event organizers to bring the Halloween spirit to the waves and to have community members unleash their creativity.

This year’s event will include musical entertainment, theatrical spectacles and prize giveaways.
