The unexpected passing of Eva-Jean Dalton, one of South Padre Island’s ardent community leaders, has left her many friends, family, associates, and constituency reeling as they mourn her death. Elected to the South Padre Island City Council in November 2018, she had been a dedicated public servant, diligently contributing to the betterment of the island. Her tireless efforts promoted the welfare of the people of South Padre Island (SPI) has made a lasting impact on the area.
Dalton actively participated in various associations at the local, state, and national levels. She was also a licensed realtor and successful businesswoman since 1990. As news of her death got out on December 1, the collective outpouring of grief was expressed on Facebook social media posts.
“The sudden passing of Eva-Jean is a great loss to our community. She was very passionate about the Island and will be tremendously missed,” said SPI’s Mayor McNulty.
“Ours hearts are saddened over the loss of such a wonderful woman,” was the message from the SPI Chamber of Commerce. “Eva-Jean was not only a Chamber member, committee member and volunteer –she was our friend. She will be greatly missed by so many.”
“The City of Port Isabel, Mayor Martin Cantu Jr., the Port Isabel City Commissioners, and City Manager Jared Hockema join with the City of South Padre Island and community in expressing our profound condolences for the loss of South Padre Island Council Member Eva-Jean Dalton.”
“Eva-Jean was a dedicated leader known for her passion and involvement in both the real estate industry and our community,” began a message from the SPI Board of Realtors. “Her unwavering commitment and positive impact on our association and community will be deeply missed.”
