Tuesday evening, the South Texas Environmental Justice Network (STEJN) hosted a meeting in Port Isabel’s Buelah Lee Park to facilitate public comments regarding possible property damage stemming from the latest SpaceX launch on Saturday, November 18. Small groups dropped by to talk about concerns regarding both SpaceX and the proposed LNG plants along Texas State Highway 48.

Bekah Hinojosa and Agripina Gomez facilitated discussions about property damage from SpaceX, including claims of cracked driveways, porches, walls, and foundations, some surprisingly farther away from Boca Chica than expected, like Los Fresnos and Harlingen and beyond. Many citizens recounted feeling like it was an earthquake when their houses or apartments shook so violently, scaring some of them to run outside or hide their children in closets.

It’s vitally important to report any property damages from this last launch in particular, which has been the most forcefully felt one yet. To do it online, go to https://tinyurl.com/launchdamage.

While some questioned what good the reports would do, the facilitators urged people to speak out. They highlighted their other successes in getting projects delayed or stopped altogether through speaking out.

The original Rio Grande LNG plant was delayed significantly by urging banks to withdraw investment monies.

Our home is on the Modern Venice “Fingers” in Port Isabel, Tx. We have been twice sound blasted by the engines of Space X that rattled and shook the windows of our house resulting in damage of the patio door. The vacuum seals on both glass panels are now broken resulting ugly humidity streaks and fogging inside the panels. Replacement cost estimates are $1,000.

Another real question is what happens when SpaceX begins these Launches routinely every 2 months?
Answer.: 1). Live with the ugly patio door and use swear words toward “progress”.
2). replace the convience and view of the patio door with a painted, sealed in wall.

SpaceX should NOT be located in this area of urbanized homes and dedicated wildlife habitats .
