SPI Christmas parade successful

South Padre Island came alive with holiday cheer on December 1, 2023, as the community gathered for the much-anticipated Christmas Parade. The streets adorned with festive lights and decorations set the perfect backdrop for the procession.

This year’s parade showcased a delightful array of participants, each bringing their unique flair to the festivities. A special congratulations goes out to the winners who stole the show with their creativity and enthusiasm.

The 1st Place honor was claimed by the Port Isabel Junior High Silver Stars Dance Team, whose dazzling performance captivated the audience. Following closely behind, the 2nd Place was secured by the Port Isabel Early College High School Silver Bells, spreading the joy of the season with their spirited presence. The Port Isabel Junior High School Cheer team clinched the 3rd Place spot, showcasing their vibrant spirit and contagious energy. An Honorable Mention was also awarded to the Port Isabel Early College High School Silver Tarpon Band for their outstanding contribution.

In the Floats category, the 1st Place distinction went to the whimsical “Elves on the Shelf – Upper Deck,” transporting spectators into a magical world. The 2nd Place was awarded to the heartwarming display by the Friends of Animal Rescue, capturing the essence of compassion during the holidays.
