Villarreal named employee of the month

Lucy Villarreal has been selected as the Laguna Madre Water District’s (LMWD) Employee of the Month.
The Laguna Madre Water District (LMWD) reviewed nominations and chose Villarreal as Employee of the Month for December 2023. Villarreal ‘s reliability and consistent high performance make her a tremendous asset to the district, read a LMWD announcement.

Villarreal began employment at the LMWD in 2018. “She is a customer service representative who is punctual and consistently arrives early to prepare and be ready to assist customers as soon as the workday begins,” reads the LMWD’s statement. Villarreal enjoys training and learning to improve her skills. She is good at multitasking and is always willing to help where needed, taking on added responsibilities without compromising the quality of her work.

In the nomination letter, Minnie Mata, LMWD Customer Service Manager, stated, “Since joining us in 2018, she has excelled in various roles within customer, service from cashier to dispatch, showing versatility and expertise in each position.” Mata further stated, “Her mastery in handling diverse tasks (be it cash transactions, processing online payments, or managing drive-thru services) is commendable.”

She also remarked, “Villarreal’s positive and friendly attitude, whether on the phone or in-person interactions, significantly enhances our customer experience.”

When asked about this award, Villarreal said, “I was super surprised!” Villarreal shared that she enjoys communicating and helping customers. She really likes her job, coworkers, and manager at LMWD.
She went on to share that she enjoys the camaraderie with her working buddies because when they’re in a bind or need help, they help each other. They also receive help, from their manager, Mata, who always has an answer to their problem, Villarreal expressed.

Villarreal said, “She’s a great manager. We have a good customer service team. We can always rely on each other.”

LMWD officials concluded by reporting that their highly anticipated Employee of the Year will soon be announced.
