Captain Murphy’s is a fishing and touring hotspot, perfect for anyone who wants a front-row seat to the beauty of South Padre Island and the plentiful fish that roam the waters.
Murphy’s offers eco-tours for nature enthusiasts. On Murphy’s Law, guests can view the most enchanting wildlife and nature elements of the lower Laguna Madre. According to Captain Murphy’s official website,
the cruises use a 67-foot double-decker boat made specifically for guests’ viewing pleasure. The tour also utilizes a specialized net so guests can view the sea life “up close.” Eco tours for the 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. slot
costs $18 for adults and $16 for children. The 1-2:30 p.m. slot costs $16 for adults and children. The 3-4:30 p.m. and 5-6:30 p.m. slots are $18 for children and adults.
Captain Murphy’s says that the Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin is a year-round presence at SPI that tour-goers can often witness. Dolphin tours are available from 3-4:30 p.m. and 5-6:30 p.m. for $18 a person.
With the new year quickly approaching, fireworks will be lit in all corners of the Island. Captain Murphy’s offers a party cruise and dolphin watch in addition to an unforgettable fireworks show cruise. Firework
shows are slated for New Year’s Eve, Labor Day Weekend, the Fourth of July and Memorial Day Weekend. New Year’s Eve fireworks are slated for Dec. 31. Infants two years old and younger ride free. Children three
to 11 are $37.89 each. Adults 12 years and older are $48.71 each. Only a one-time slot for 7:30 p.m. is available.
A special treat from the docks of Captain Murphy’s is the Port of Brownsville nature tour. This four-hour cruise takes guests through the Brownsville Ship Channel to the Port of Brownsville with a narration to
inform guests about what they are seeing. According to Captain Murphy’s, this tour is a Winter Texan favorite. Guests will see an exclusive array of birds from in and around the area, along with local attractions like the SpaceX launch site and Starbase City. Oil rigs, general vessels and the USS Kitty Hawk are also visible for guests. This tour offers a freshly caught gulf shrimp tasting as well as coffee and doughnuts. The Port of
Brownsville Nature tour is $40 for the tour and $50 for the tour and lunch.
Fishing enthusiasts can also find the right tour at Captain Murphy’s. Private and regular bay fishing charters are available for those who want to play a more active hand in their leisure time. Guests may bring their
gear, but only one pole per fisherman is allowed. A rod, reel, bait and tackle will be provided. These fishing charters use the “Hard Bottom Too” boat, which features a restroom and bench seating.
During this time of year, winter fishing enthusiasts can expect to see red snappers on their lines. At a limit of two fish per person, guests can enjoy deep-sea fishing for a full eight-hour day. Admission is $130 per
person.
Children under the age of two are not permitted on the bay fishing trips, however, children ages three to four can attend for $10. Ages 17 and older must have a valid Texas Saltwater Fishing License. Times for the
fishing charters are 8 a.m.-12 p.m., 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.

All tours utilize only the finest vessels Captain Murphy’s has to offer. Each boat is “U.S. Coast Guard inspected and outfitted with the latest fish finding equipment,” according to their website listing.
All cruises must be booked online at least 24 hours in advance, and cancellations must be made a day in advance. Bad weather cancellations will only be initiated by employees, and guests will be given a full refund.
Those who fulfill the cancellation requirements will be able to receive a refund. Cancellations and no-shows within 24 hours of the scheduled departure are subject to the full reservation cost.
