The Point Isabel Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved significant salary increases for all district employees during its regular meeting Monday evening.
The approved compensation plan includes tiered raises for teachers based on years of experience. Teachers with one to two years of experience will receive a $1,700 increase, while those with three to four years will see a $4,000 raise. Veteran teachers with five or more years in the classroom will receive an $8,000 pay increase.
First-year teachers entering the district will now earn a starting salary of $56,390.
In addition to teacher raises, the board approved a 5% salary increase from the midpoint for clerical, paraprofessional, and auxiliary staff. Administrative and professional positions will see a 4% increase from the midpoint.
The raises come as districts across the state work to remain competitive in educator pay while balancing rising operational costs and staffing needs. The new salary structure will go into effect for the 2025–2026 school year.
