Point Isabel ISD has announced the appointment of Maritza Hoffman to its Board of Trustees, bringing with her years of experience in education and community service.
Hoffman holds a bachelor’s degree in Language Arts 6–12 with a reading specialization and spent eight years in the classroom fostering literacy and a love of learning among her students. She later took on leadership roles in Bryan ISD, including serving as chair of the district’s $105 million bond committee, which successfully secured funding for new projects that expanded opportunities for students and strengthened school infrastructure.
Her dedication to public education led her to run for the Bryan ISD School Board, where she served two full terms. During her tenure, she worked closely with educators and fellow trustees to guide policy and champion student success.
Beyond her work in education, Hoffman remains deeply involved in community service. She currently serves as fundraising chair for Walk for Women, a nonprofit supporting those affected by breast cancer, and has contributed her vision to the City of South Padre Island Comprehensive Plan Committee, helping shape the community’s long-term growth.
“Point Isabel ISD is honored to have Ms. Hoffman join the Board of Trustees,” the district said in a statement. “Her leadership, professional experience, and passion for serving others will be a tremendous asset to the Tarpon community.”
District leaders said they look forward to the positive impact Hoffman will have on students, staff, and families across the district.
