We have heard nothing and the court date is Wednesday.” This from Port Isabel City Manager Ed Meza as he talked about the court date for the eviction of the Laguna Madre Humane Society for the Animal Shelter Monday

morning. The city had filed papers and notices was served that an eviction was taking place. The next step is a court hearing Wednesday morning in which a determination will be made to either move forward or not with the eviction.”We have to be prepared that it is going through, “said Meza, “it will be up to the judge to make the call on how much time they will be given but we are getting our people ready to step in just as soon as they have to.

A large group of volunteers has now teamed with the city and they are working at increasing their numbers daily.

“We do have a large group now that are volunteering their services to assist in running the shelter,” said Meza, “they are already doing a lot of work in the background getting ready and I feel they

are eager to find homes for animals that are at the shelter and those that will be coming in the future.
