The Friends of the Library are hosting a pediatric health fair on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Port Isabel Community Center (behind the library) 213 N. Yturria St.
Bring your children to the Health Fair for free: Check-ups, Flu shots, Hearing exams, Dental screenings, Diabetes screening; information on Nutrition and Childhood Diabetes, Physical Fitness, Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Online Health Resources, WIC, CPS, Medicaid, and Chip.

Seniors Computer Classes
Computer Basics for Senior Citizens will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17 and Friday, Nov. 18 from 8:30 – 10 a.m. Registration from Mon, Nov. 4-11. For more information, call the library at 943-1822.
New Books are Arriving Daily
Be sure to check the “New Arrivals” shelves at the Public Library Reading Room (PLRR) as new books are being added daily. Some of the favorites in fiction are: Bel-Air Dead by Stuart Woods; The Sixth Man by David Baldacci; A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron; Ghost Story by Jim Butcher; The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley; Conquistadora, a novel by Esmeralda Santiago; and The Doctor & the Diva by Adrienne McDonnell. Non-fiction titles are: Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson; The End of Normal by Stephanie Madoff Mack; Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard. Also, you will find a brand new collection of Large Print books (both fiction and non-fiction.) Just a Reminder – the PLRR is open from 8:30 am to 12:30pm Monday through Friday.
In honor of Veterans’ Day, both the Port Isabel Public Library and the PLRR will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11. The main library will also be closed on Saturday, Nov. 12. Both libraries will resume regular hours on Monday.
