Kayaking 101: This the season to be… sick

Kayaking 101First, I want to say that I hope none of you out there get that ugly flu or cold bug, but for those who have, I hope its mild and you get over it right away. I currently have been sick the past couple of days and want nothing more than to get better. I have to say one thing though, thank God for homemade chicken soup.

Now back to the fun stuff. I’m getting reports that the fishing is getting better out at Holly Beach and Mexiquita Flats. Still no reports of South Bay, but hopefully soon I will get a chance to get out there. Now, I have wanted to get out there and try a new kayak that is on the market. It’s the TETRA 10 by Ocean Kayak, length in 10’8”, pushing 29.5 in width, and weighs 51 pounds. The feature that is sure to please is the Modular Fishing Pod as a center console, which means one of the rod holders is right in front of you. Impressive.

Visit Ocean Kayak online or come on by the shop to take a look. Suggested Retail is $759.00. I guess having it on sale at $649.00 means it’s sure to sell out, and remember, have time for a lesson or two in Deep Water Re-entry, we are still having free classes throughout the months of November and December. Just call to set up a class date. I will be getting one of these great new kayaks out on the water next weekend, so if you’re anywhere near the Island next Saturday, stop on by and give the Tetra a try. For those who can’t come by, I will definitely post how she handles.

Take care everyone. As always, stay safe, always wear your P.F.D., and test your whistle every now and then. See you out on the water.
