Little Joe slated at Los Fresnos stock show

Special to the Parade

LOS FRESNOS – The streets of Los Fresnos will be filled February 3-5 with not only local residents for this year’s PRCS Rodeo and Cameron County Fair and Livestock show, but also with citizens from all over the Valley as the 2012 event is predicted to be one of the most heavily-participated on record.

Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee Chairman Mark Milum said that this year was definitely going to be bigger and better with new additions to the show, such as the new Rodeo Concert that will have five-time Grammy Award winner Little Joe y la Familia performing.

Also, the city will hold its 23rd Annual PRCA Rodeo beginning Friday, Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m., as well as Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. The rodeo theme for this year will be “Saluting America’s Heroes” and will consist of many events including a Professional Bullfighters Association Team Competition.

The 32nd CCFLS will also be held all three days where citizens can enjoy a carnival, comedy and magic acts, as well as chamber arts and crafts. On Saturday and Sunday, a Texas Wild Bunch Gun Show will be entertaining audiences, and on Saturday, a rodeo parade will be held at 11 a.m. as well as a Texas Hold ’em Tourney later that afternoon. Ending the days for both Friday and Saturday will be a fireworks display, which will start after the rodeo performances.

Also on Saturday, local bands will be sharing their talent for crowds with performances scheduled throughout the day. Then, beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Little Joe y La Familia will hit the stage followed by a performance by Country Western singer Tracy Lawrence at 10 p.m.

The carnival and livestock show will open at 8 a.m. on all three days, but will close at midnight for only Friday and Saturday. The livestock show will close at 2 p.m. on Sunday followed by the carnival that will close at 11 p.m.
