The Point Isabel ISD held a Budget Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 27 at 5 p.m. in the Central Administration Board Room, 101 Port Rd. The topics of discussion were the 2012-2013 Budget, and fund balance.

“This meeting is the first meeting in the budget process,” as Dr. Estella Pineda, Superintendent for the PI-ISD, identified, “and we want to get as much feedback as possible. “

Pineda also reminded the attendees that no tax increase was required last year to balance the budget. In addition, Pineda thanked Mr. Henry LeVrier, Deputy Point Isabel ISD Superintendent for Business and Operations, for the increase in fund balance – as one of the only school districts with an increase in fund balance. “We are most appreciative of Mr. LeVrier’s hard work, as he continues to maintain a balanced budget from year to year, and increased the fund balance,” said Pineda as she disclosed the fund balance of nearly $11 million dollars. And the tax collection currently, to date, at 87.5 percent; it is estimated to be 94.5 percent by the end of the school year.
