The Port Isabel High School men’s soccer team has made the playoffs and will face off against Weslaco East in a bi-district game this Friday night. The game will be played at Weslaco East and will commence at 7:30 p.m.
This is Salvador Hernandez’s fourth year as the head soccer coach at PIHS and the second straight season that the Tarpons have qualified for the post-season. They did so last year as District 64-4A champions. They go in this season as the third-place team in the district with a 5-3 league record.
Coach Hernandez said this week that he has a good mixture of all four classes this year. “My seniors are the leaders,” he said. “They help the younger players along, and the freshmen and sophomores are good students of the game.”
