Semana Santa, or Holy Week, is a week-long homage of various religious holidays to include Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. And South Padre Island is a highly customary resort destination in which families travel to for a week of sun, sand, and relaxation. Local businesses are reporting a “better than recent years turn-out.”

Raul Zamora, a two-year vet in Guest Services, Hilton Garden Inn, said, “Our occupancy numbers for tonight, Wednesday, is at 70 percent; Thursday is at 84 percent; Friday is at 94 percent; Saturday is at 91 percent, and Sunday at 62 percent. Zamora added that business is picking up and steady, but they anticipate a good amount of walk-in reservations.

On the opposite end of the Island, Marisa Castillo, Director Sales &Marketing, Pearl South Padre, said, “Business is doing great! We are currently ahead of projected numbers for the year, and increasing… we are also seeing an increase year over year for Semana Santa.”
