A local leader, in partnership with the City of South Padre Island, is in the planning stages of a new family-focused public park.
Sam Listi, an architect and SPI City Council member, said, “The park site is a city-owned property (next to Travelodge) and it started as a proposal for the bond issue three years ago.”
Listi explained how he always kept the park proposal in the “back of his mind,” and earlier this year he decided to re-introduce the park project to the city council. “We pulled the property off the market last city council meeting,” said Listi, “and the Council agreed for me to move forward on the drawings.”
