Stabbing suspects released

PRESS Staff Report

emergency-lightsThree of the 10 alleged gang members arrested in connection with the stabbing of a Dallas man during Spring Break have been released, according to authorities investigating the case.

It’s been reported that although the three men have provided sufficient evidence to warrant their release, South Padre Island police have not ruled out their alleged involvement in the crime.

Charges stem from the March 17 stabbing of 21-year-old Derek J. Madrigal, a Dallas man who was at South Padre Island for Spring Break when he was attacked for reportedly defending a female. As previously reported, Madrigal had been stabbed repeatedly while in the vicinity of the 500 block of Padre Boulevard and is now recovering from his injuries in Dallas.
