The South Padre Island City Council held a regular meeting May 2.
Bernie Baskett reported the fire station’s construction to be coming along fine, but is 10 days behind schedule. He said the time is going to be made up during the summer.
The City Council discussed the future of their interlocal agreement with Port Isabel regarding animal shelter. They requested a proposal from Friends of Animals Rescue Shelter to keep animals on the Island instead of hauling them to Port Isabel to benefit the residents.
