The Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce met May 4 with guest speaker Cameron County Commissioner David Garza discussing projects affecting the area.
Commissioner Garza said the chamber invited him for a yearly presentation where he was able to inform the chamber of several road projects that impact Port Isabel and the extended Laguna Madre area.
A port access road is in the second year of the planning stages. The proposed route would run east to west behind the HEB and Wal-Mart stores. It is planned to begin as a two-lane county road before it is turned over to the city.
