The Port Isabel City Commission held its regular meeting Tuesday.
The commission approved resolution 05-12-12-02 declaring the results of the city’s special election.
Mayor Joe Vega, Commissioner Place 1 Juan Jose “J.J.” Zamora and Commissioner Pl. 2 Maria De Jesus Garza renewed their oaths after running unopposed.
Pedro Hinojosa, Director of Operations for Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services, presented to the commission Medicaid 1115 Waiver, which is designed to help bring federal funds to projects that help improve overall community health and wellness.
The county expressed interest in potential projects by June 1 but might have to push the date due to scheduling conflicts. The projects will be compiled with the other projects in Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy and Starr counties.
Hinojosa said UTHSC doctors would provide information on how to be approved as health improving project.
Executive Vice-President for the Brownsville Economic Development Council, Gilbert Salinas, gave a presentation on the possible SpaceX rocket launch site at Boca Chica Beach.
