Alleged burglar plummets to death

emergency-lightsAn alleged burglar died after falling six stories off the roof of the Peninsula Island Resort and Spa Hotel during his heist, according to the South Padre Island Police Department.

Police Chief Randy Smith said a concierge at the Peninsula discovered the body of 31-year-old Robert Ainsworth of Portland, TX around 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Smith said detectives found stolen property, including checks and cash, on the roof of the hotel near where Ainsworth fell.
