Beach litter stirs concern

Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos has added an item to the agenda of the next county commissioners’ meeting to address trash problems in county parks.

The meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, at the Cameron County courthouse.

Beach pollution has become an issue for many in the area who use county beaches. The Surfrider Foundation of South Texas began a petition online to demand that law enforcement officers start ticketing people for littering. By press time, the petition had 289 signatures.
