The first exhibits for the future Historical Museum of South Padre Island was unveiled Saturday at the Shores Event Center.

Tarpon Beach, The Casino at Tarpon Beach and Bathing Beauties are the first exhibits. Dennis Frankie, President of the Historical Museum said the exhibits are designed to showcase the resort history of South Padre Island for the museum’s starting point.

Frankie said the museum exhibits are a nice addition to the Island because it is the city’s first historical destination. He said most of the Island’s history is unknown and the motivation behind the museum is to make people aware of the island’s past.
