Laguna Vista local James Taylor received the prestigious Eagle Scout badge, the highest honor given by the Boy Scouts of America.

Family and friends filled the Los Fresnos community center Sunday afternoon to see Taylor receive his badge. Port Isabel Mayor Joe Vega also awarded Taylor with a proclamation from the city congratulating Taylor on his accomplishment.

“When you first join scouting, all you hear about is the fabled Eagle Scout, but I never really knew what it was about until I got here,” Taylor said. “All the mosquitoes, the late nights pitching tents, this is what it was all for.”
