Town judgeship back on agenda

Laguna Vista leaders will convene in regular session Tuesday on a variety of topics, including consulting with their attorney on issues relating to the municipal judge position.

Scheduled at City Hall, 122 Fernandez St., the meeting opens at 6 p.m. Seating is limited in order to comply with the Town’s fire code.

Perhaps the most controversial issue to face the council is the final agenda item that deals with an opinion written by Town Attorney Ricardo Morado that the City Charter requires that the municipal court judge “shall” be an attorney. The council requested the opinion following repeated complaints that the appointment of a non-attorney violates the town’s charter.
