Laguna Vista officials will ask the Texas Attorney General’s office to weigh-in on their decision to appoint a non-attorney to serve as municipal court judge in this community.
Following a 35-minute executive session, the Town Council emerged to vote to seek a higher-level opinion on the judge issue as it pertains to the wording of the Town’s Charter.
“We will have to ask the District Attorney, Senator (Eddie) Lucio or Representative (Rene) Olivera to ask the attorney general to go through the process,” Mayor Susie Houston said. She added that she would recommend the request come from the senator or representative.
